A Performance About the Future, Played for Each Other
The future is a period of time that follows the past and present. The future is a multitude of events that have not yet happened but may happen. The future is fate. And so on. But what is the future?
I invited about 30 participants to perform a play for each other, following a specially designed instruction-score (there are about 80+ instructions or rather micro-plays that participants are performing in a round-robin manner). It prescribed what and how to speak and act, but allowed for varying degrees of creative freedom and required no rehearsals. The participants thus become the actors and the audience of the performance at the same time.
Almost theater. Almost not theater.
I hoped that within this polyphony, the audience’s own inner dialogue with the future will become clearer.
